Tucked away in the quiet village of Boreen Point, on the sandy shores of Lake Cootharaba, lies one of the Sunshine Coast’s most special secrets — Le Bateau Ivre.
Where the wind whispers through the gums and native birdlife graces the shoreline, this is a place where stillness meets soul, and life slows to the rhythm of water and light.
Le Bateau Ivre — The Drunken Boat, named after the poem by French poet Arthur Rimbaud — is a rare, hand-built Queenslander circa 1934, crafted from local hardwoods on site. Once a guesthouse known for its bohemian soirées and rumoured visits by The Rolling Stones, it later became a beloved artist’s retreat, and most recently a bespoke family home for designer Lucy Folk.
In collaboration with renowned interior designer Tamsin Johnson, Lucy and her partner Joffrey Cauchy undertook a sensitive two-year transformation, completed in 2022. Together, they preserved the home’s soul while introducing thoughtful luxury and refined materials. Key artisan collaborators included carpenter Clint Williams, stonemason Don MacDonald, landscaper Jason Hodges, and ceramicists Ceri Muller and Ben Mazey.
