Pictured for sale is the Badderam resort development site in Buderim, also known locally for some 50-plus years as Malumba Estate. Malumba Estate currently operates as one Australia’s most prestigious and romantic Hamptons-style retreats and is currently the Sunshine Coast’s most luxurious private-hire accommodation. Whilst operating Malumba Estate, the current owners, have for six years successfully progressed the Badderam resort project. A project capable of serving the Sunshine Coast community some 100 years into the future. During this time they also purchased neighbouring rainforest acreage and guest house – Aquila Retreat.
The pair have since fully renovated and transformed Aquila to become a second stand-out, luxe accommodation for the Coast. The 111-room Badderam Resort DA is important to the couple, as this will see their rare and large land parcel used responsibly to provide their community with an ecologically built luxury infrastructure, jobs for future generations and an increased footfall to the businesses of Buderim village.
They are clear about the legacy they wish to leave. Badderam is recognised as the most community supported development application in Sunshine Coast Council’s history. Only 27 native trees are removed from the site to build Badderam with over 500 put back. Badderam is built in the already cleared areas of the site where existing large buildings are located. On site remnant vegetation will be regenerated in the Badderam plan. The outcome for fauna and flora across the site is extremely positive.
Since the DA was approved in 2018, these owners have worked tirelessly, engaging with international resort operators, potential developers and financiers the world over, bringing together the project’s moving parts. Having led a team of over 45 consultants to progress this new and exciting ecological and Indigenous inspired five-star resort development, the owners say they have now brought the project as far as they can until an experienced developer is found.
“My work has been accomplished this past six years in connecting the moving parts of this project; our community, the DA, a five-star resort operator and finally the *finance to construct. I am proud of all that we have achieved to date,” says the owner. “It is my absolute desire to remain involved with the realisation of the project as its creator and visionary.”
The Resort DA is valid until 2025 and is supported by market and financial projections. 5-Star luxury resort operator, development finance, development manager and experienced team of consultants on standby by to work with purchaser.
Whilst COVID-19 has created uncertainty for global resort and hotel markets generally, what it has meant for the Sunshine Coast is an unprecedented number of tourists flocking here to enjoy paradise. Bookings and enquiries for Malumba Estate and Aquila Retreat are at an all-time high, reports our owner. “Now is the time to build a new luxury resort on the Sunshine Coast – build it and they will come, just as they already are,” the owner advises. Queensland and the Sunshine Coast are currently the envy of the world. The Sunshine Coast’s infrastructure pipeline, liveability and natural assets are astounding, and the rest of the world is now starting to take notice of this superior region.
Malumba Estate is luxe, for-hire estate with a unique development approval for a 111 room luxury 5-star resort & spa.
